TAURANGA DAYCARE

The Children's Garden
Tauranga DayCare

At The Children’s Garden, we specialise in tailored early childhood education for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers right here in Welcome Bay, Tauranga. Across our two licensed centres — our Babies & Toddlers centre on Victory Street and our Preschool centre on Pamir Place — we provide a home away from home where children feel safe, known, and excited to learn.

ABOUT US

Exceptional Child Care in Tauranga

Our two Tauranga daycare centres are purpose-designed to nurture creativity, build confidence, and instil a love for the natural world. Through programmes like our popular weekly Bush Kindy at Johnson Reserve and our intentional school transition activities, we set the foundation for lifelong learning and curious, capable tamariki.

Guided by Aotearoa’s national early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki, our qualified educators plan around each child’s interests, strengths, and whānau context. Days here are full of play, kai shared together, outdoor adventures, quiet reading corners, messy art, and small moments of belonging — the kind of childhood we’d all want for our own children.

Most importantly, we treat every child and every whānau as part of our extended family. From the first tour to the final graduation hug, relationships sit at the centre of everything we do.

WHY CHOOSE US

Why The Children's Garden Tauranga?

Choosing the right daycare in Tauranga is one of the biggest decisions a whānau will make. At The Children’s Garden we’re proud to be a genuinely local, community-focused option — privately operated, small enough that every child is known by name, and grounded in the values of manaakitanga (care for others) and whakawhanaungatanga (building connection).

Our ratios go beyond simply meeting the Ministry of Education minimums. We run dedicated rooms for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers so each age group gets the specific kind of care and learning they need — from attachment-focused one-on-one time for babies to rich, project-based play for older children preparing for school.

Families who enrol with us tell us they value three things above all else: the warmth of our team, the consistency our teachers bring year after year, and the sense that their child is genuinely happy here. That’s what we work to protect every single day.

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL

What Makes Our Centre Special?

Your little one deserves a place where every ‘good morning’ feels like coming home. As a Tauranga early childhood education centre, we understand that choosing the right daycare isn’t just about finding a space — it’s about finding your child’s happy place.

What parents can expect from The Children’s Garden:

  • Two purpose-built centres in Welcome Bay — separate spaces for our 0–2 tamariki and our 3–5 preschoolers, so each age group thrives in an environment designed for them.
  • Weekly Bush Kindy at Johnson Reserve — real outdoor learning in the ngahere (forest), rain or shine, building resilience and connection to place.
  • Te Whāriki-aligned programme — learning woven around belonging, wellbeing, contribution, communication, and exploration.
  • 20 free ECE hours for ages 3–5 (Ministry-funded), plus additional hours we contribute so your child can access up to 30 free hours per week.
  • Qualified, passionate teachers — many of our team have been with us for years, giving children the stability of familiar faces.
  • Intentional school transition support — so preschoolers step into their first day of primary school confident, curious, and ready.

We celebrate each child’s individuality while preparing them for a seamless transition to school. We prioritise family involvement, open communication with whānau, and strong community connections that make Welcome Bay feel like the village it takes to raise a child.
